Here are a few things that you can do to help maximize the life of your carpet:

1. Clean, Clean, Clean. The easiest and most effective way to care for your carpet is to keep it cleaned. Take off your shoes when walking on the carpet. Wearing socks or soft slippers is actually better than going barefoot. When barefoot, oils from your feet can find its way into your carpet and attract more dirt later. Also, vacuum regularly. If you can do it every day or two, fantastic. But realistically if you can vacuum at least once to twice a week you should be good. Remember to keep your vacuum cleaner in tiptop condition also. Empty the bag when it is half full and your canister before each vacuuming. Check the belt for cracks, tears, or worn areas. Make sure the tubes are cleared and that everything else is in working order.

2. Be Prepared. Accidents happen, especially if you have children or pets. Always keep your basic carpet cleaning materials somewhere easily accessible. The key to cleaning up any spill or stain is how quickly you can treat it. If you have an incident you want to first extract as much of the material as possible before treating. Use a shop vac or some clean towels with a weight placed on top and absorb as much of the liquid as you can. Make sure you blot at the area rather than rub at it. Rubbing a stain will only make it worse. Do not use too much cleaning agent at once. Try a little at a time and repeat the process until the spot is gone.

3. Hire a Pro. Carpet experts recommend you hire a professional carpet cleaner at least once to twice a year to clean your carpet. It's just like going to the dentist. You brush your teeth everyday but once or twice a year you get a good professional cleaning. The same goes for your carpet. Having a professional give your carpet a good once over will give it that deep, thorough clean that will help rejuvenate it. Plus it makes your routine maintenance much easier.

Keeping your carpets looking their best and keeping them healthy are both part of the same process. Follow these simple steps and your carpet should look fantastic and last for a very long time.

Strive for large up-and-down movements. When cleaning a shower door, for example, make big circles. "I am a trainer and I feel like my arm is about to fall off!" exclaims Mandel.
Carry heavy baskets of laundry or supplies up from the basement, if your conditioning allows.
Climb on a stepladder every chance you get. "What's the difference between this and a step class?" Mandel asks.
Scrub floors on your hands and knees. And get on your hands and knees to pull out all that dust and clutter hiding under the bed.
Do lunges while vacuuming (keep toes pointed straight ahead, and don't bend your knees further than 90 degrees). You'll feel it in your thighs.
When putting away dishes, face forward and twist to reach the cabinets.
In the garden, lunge toward weeds. "Some of them have roots 5 feet long," Mandel says. "Those'll give you a workout!"Pruning requires forearm strength (and helps develop it). It also requires reaching on your toes -- like a calf raise, Mandel says. So volunteer for this chore, and don't be afraid of thicker or higher branches.
Pouring mulch or fertilizer from a heavy bag requires a squat. Remember to use your legs, not your back.
Wielding a weed-eater is like fencing, almost. Pull in those abs and pay attention to your form.
If you have area rugs, beat them using a clean broom rather than vacuuming. This means more steps to get outside and more exercise for your arm muscles.

STEP 1: Cover spill with WHITE napkin or paper towels. DO NOT use colored paper! It might transfer onto the carpet. Be sure to use a THICK stack to absorb as much of the spot as possible

STEP 2: Blot by stepping on stack of towels.
REPEAT THIS PROCESS UNTIL NO TRANSFER TAKES PLACE. DO NOT RUB!!!

STEP 3: Apply Spotting Agent. Warning: Do not use over the counter spot removers! They can leave a sticky residue that attracts soil and may discolor your textiles. Instead, call us to find out what spotters are recommended.

STEP 4: REPEAT Steps 1 and 2. If the spot does not come out, do NOT attempt any further action, as you may set the spot and or damage your textiles. Instead, give us a call.

Do not over-wet the spot. Keep blotting until dry to the touch. You may then repeat all steps.

Does it really work ? Unfortunately there is probably as much confusion in the carpet cleaning industry about carpet protectors as there is about cleaning. Uneducated, uninformed, and sometimes downright unscrupulous carpet cleaners cause a great deal of confusion by giving out false information or intentionally misrepresenting the product.

A nylon stain-resist carpet is made with protective properties: This is an acid dye blocker that is basically a clear dye that fills the extra dye sites in a fiber that helps keep foreign dyes (such as red dye in a beverage) from penetrating the carpet fiber. These help keep spillage from actually getting to the acid dye blocker. But their biggest job is to resist dry soil. By resisting dry soil, less soil bonds to the carpet and is consequently picked up by your vacuum. Not having enough soil resistor on the carpet leaves your traffic areas exposed to gritty soil that cuts and slices the carpet fibers.

WARNING: This treatment is removed 2 ways: With regular foot traffic over a period of 6 months to 2 years depending on traffic and with cleaners with a pH of over 10!

5 REASONS WHY YOU SHOULS ALWAYS HAVE YOUR CARPET STAIN GUARDED

1 - Reduce permanent stains. A great looking carpet can be ruined by an ugly spot. Unprotected carpet doesnt repel spillage as well as protected carpet. Being able to remove spots and spills more effectively helps you avoid permanent staining.

2 - Help save traffic areas from being destroyed. Traffic area soil is very abrasive and cuts carpet yarns like a knife. This damaging soil can easily bond to an unprotected carpet. By applying protector you will increase the life of your carpet dramatically. When you vacuum your protected carpet, the soils will release from the carpet pile much more effectively.

3 - Make spots easier to remove. The easier a spot is to remove, the less cleaner you will have to use, less agitation you will have to use, and less time it will take. Many spots can be removed easily with just water.

4 - Next professional cleaning more effective. Having protector applied to your carpet will enhance your next cleaning. More soil will be removed the next time your carpeting is professionally cleaned.

5 - Avoid service calls. Although you want to call us out to handle any spot you cannot remove immediately, carpet protector helps you remove more spots than you could without protector. You may be able to save a service charge by removing the spot yourself.
